Our History

The Ark of the Amazon Mission began in 1999 when Bill Davis came to faith in Jesus Christ after many years of rebellion against his Savior. This monster of iniquity had received a Master's Degree from a seminary and had served as a missionary to Bolivia under appointment of the International Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He gave lip service to the God of the Bible but was in every sense of the word, a reprobate. His service with the IMB came to an end when his dual life became evident. For twenty years he lived as an atheist, profaning the name of Jesus and being an enemy of His church. God used the witness of one his teenaged daughters to break his heart of stone and he was gloriously transformed by God’s Grace and Mercy. Shortly after his conversion, he was given the opportunity to return to Bolivia for a prospective business venture. In dramatic ways God unmistakably revealed that Bill was not in Bolivia to help set up a financial enterprise. He was there to do business for the Lord.

The visit to Bolivia, ostensibly to found a Safari business, was the beginning of a ministry to the Guarani speaking people in southeastern Bolivia. God used this ministry to one community in this remote, desert area of Bolivia to begin a church planting movement that has expanded into a ministry to more than 10 language/dialect groups in 6 of the 9 Departments (States) of Bolivia

Stars indicated departments in which we are working through National pastors and missionaries.
